Abstract

Higher education is facing new challenges as a result of the external circumstances brought about by the broad use of popular technologies like mobile devices, social media, and online social networks. In order to develop a personal belief in the value of a technology and an awareness of its optimal applications, faculty members need chances for hands-on experiences. This article takes a look at how educational professionals are being trained at The Open University and other places, including new programs that are aimed at helping teachers become more proficient with mobile learning. It lays out the lessons that may be gleaned from these encounters and suggests a strategy for the collaborative growth of educators and their students from the standpoint of lifelong learning. Teachers have an important role as "professional role models" for their pupils, therefore it seems to reason that they should actively incorporate technology into their study and practice throughout their careers, not just in the classroom.
